Evolving Workplace Requirements
Trend Group was tasked with rethinking Afrisam’s existing workplace in response to shifting post-pandemic working models. The brief required a 50% reduction in overall office footprint while transitioning from a cellular office layout to an open, agile environment. Through detailed spatial planning and workplace analysis, the design strategy prioritised flexibility, collaboration, and efficiency, ensuring the fit-out aligned with long-term operational needs and contemporary workplace design standards.
Tactile Industrial Expression
The design language draws from Afrisam’s industrial identity, translating raw material references into a refined workplace aesthetic. Cement-inspired carpets, steel accents, and textured wallpapers establish a grounded visual identity across the interior design. Subtle pops of Afrisam’s corporate red are introduced through selected furniture pieces, bringing moments of brand identity into the space without overwhelming the palette. The workspace is organised into distinct zones including focus rooms, collaborative hubs, and flexible workstations, supported by FF&E selections and bespoke interiors that enhance usability and spatial clarity.
From Build to Occupation
Delivered within tight programme constraints, the project required careful coordination to ensure continuity of operations throughout the fit-out phase. Trend Group worked in close collaboration with Afrisam through workshops and site engagements, enabling iterative refinement of the design in real time. The result is a transformed workspace that delivers enhanced flexibility, improved collaboration, and a future-ready environment aligned with contemporary workplace design principles and evolving ways of working.
