The team was careful to respect the historical significance of the protected Rosebank Fire Station while infusing modern sophistication into the design. Traxtion appreciated the building’s rich heritage and stunning views of the Johannesburg treetops, which informed many design decisions.
To embrace the building’s history, the design features an exposed ceiling and incorporates warm materials like timber, marble, and copper. This blend of elements adds character to the space while creating an inviting atmosphere.
As you enter the office, you are greeted by a striking curved slatted timber wall that draws inspiration from Traxtion’s branding, resembling the nose of a locomotive. This thoughtful design element makes a memorable first impression.
Black aluminium frames with glass partitions maximize visibility throughout the office, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the beautiful views of the surrounding trees, enhancing the connection to nature.
