The Google head office project, encompassing 1500 sqm, was a 16-week build aimed at providing a modern workspace that reflects South African culture. Chosen through a competitive tender process, Trend Group served as the main contractor responsible for executing the build to meet Google’s high standards of employee comfort and productivity.

Designed in collaboration with Boogertman & Partners Interiors and Turner and Townsend, the office features a blend of local authenticity and innovative design elements. Unique finishes, including 7500 second-hand magazines for wall art, beer crates repurposed for seating, and reclaimed materials, promote sustainability and contribute to a vibrant work environment. The project achieved a 5-star Green Star rating and gold LEED certification while incorporating amenities such as a gym and mothers’ room.

Focus on ergonomic and acoustic comfort ensured that the workspace promotes creativity and efficiency. Despite potential challenges and strict regulatory measures, the team successfully adhered to timelines, enhancing both the work experience and the community connection.
