Collaborative Environment
Trend Group had the privilege of undertaking the design and build of the new offices for the world-renowned broadcasting company, BBC. The project demanded strict compliance with international standards while integrating elements that reflect the distinctive South African context of the BBC’s operation for the broadcast facility.
Culturally Inspired Design
Guided by fundamental design principles based on international standards, Trend Group embraced a flexible and open creative approach. The goal was to develop a modern and industrial style enriched with African influences. Local materials, including the distinctive shwe shwe fabric, were applied to desk dividers and fabric panels. By combining a variety of textures and finishes, the workspace gained both warmth and character while maintaining a contemporary look.
Designing the filming rooms demanded careful consideration of specialised technical needs. This included implementing advanced acoustic treatment, tailored lighting lux levels, and planning for audio-visual and conferencing equipment – thoughtfully incorporated to work seamlessly within the overall design.

Built for Creative Excellence
Trend Group transformed the BBC’s office into a lively and engaging environment that reflects the company’s global values while embracing South African culture. The careful coordination of acoustic, lighting, and audio-visual requirements provides optimal conditions for content production and supports the BBC’s high operational standards in the region. This project demonstrates our ability to deliver workspaces that are both inspiring and practical, designed with cultural context and client requirements in mind.
